Fresh off the back of our massive 45,000-piece microplastic beach clean on May 12th, the Odyssey Innovation team packed up our gear and headed over to the vibrant, high-energy VeganFest Malta festival to showcase everything we do.
Showcasing the Full Odyssey Innovation Journey
VeganFest isn’t just about incredible plant-based food — it’s a gathering of minds focused on conscious living, ethical choices, and planetary health. That made it the perfect home for us to showcase our entire ecosystem of work.
Visitors to our stand got to see how we bridge the gap between marine conservation and commercial manufacturing. We walked people through our entire circular pipeline: from intercepting marine litter and microplastics on local shores using tools like Scuttle the Cuttle, to recycling that exact material into high-quality, long-lasting products like our recycled plastic kayaks and surfing accessories.
As a mother-and-father design team, Rob and Tina Thompson started this journey out of pure frustration with poorly made, wasteful environmental gear. Being at VeganFest allowed us to show the community the direct result of what happens when you replace bad design with high-quality, sustainable innovation. It was incredibly rewarding to watch the penny drop for people when they realised that the plastic pollution plaguing our seas can actually be transformed into durable, useful tools that help us get back out and enjoy nature.
Gratitude to the Community
A massive, heartfelt thank you goes out to the organisers of VeganFest Malta for curating such an inspiring, welcoming event, and to everyone who stopped by our stand to chat, ask questions, or share a kind word. The enthusiasm we felt from families, eco-activists, and local businesses is the ultimate fuel for our mission.
Seeing the community rally behind our grand total of 75,300 microplastic pieces saved from the ocean across just 5 cleaning sessions reminds us exactly why we do this. The potential for this tool to scale is massive.
