The Net Regeneration Scheme is one of several sustainable marine litter solutions provided by Odyssey Innovation Ltd. It started in 2017 with a focus on preserving our marine habitats and all life within them; it is currently ongoing in 21 harbors along the South Coast of the UK and has recovered/diverted over 105,000kgs of plastic waste.
This pioneering and multi-award winning activity allows partner harbors/fisherfolk/netmakers to recycle their nets and rigid plastic waste as opposed to sending these to landfill or incineration. Being a subsidized scheme it also encourages best practice in the fishing industry by encouraging fisherfolk to bring in other abandoned nets they might happen to fish up when out at sea. Furthermore the scheme supports several local beach clean activities/volunteers and conservation NGOs by providing them a sustainable stream through which to recycle any materials collected.
Odyssey Innovation is renowned for creating the world's first kayak and net storage bin out of the marine plastic collected/recovered through its Net Regeneration Scheme and has multiple other products in the manufacturing pipeline.
